Q: Is there any charge for this?
A: The program and its usage is free. There is an optional registration charge if you wish to use any of the additional PLUS features. If you don't need nor want any of the additional PLUS features, then there will never be any charge. Please note that some cell phone carriers may charge the recipients money to receive text messages depending on their calling plans.
Q: What happens after the free PLUS trial period?
A: After the trial period, the program simply returns back to its original state with all the additional PLUS features disabled. No data will be lost, and the program will continue to be functional.
Q: Can I send to ANY cell phone?
A: You can send to any phone that has SMS (Text Messaging) capability, and the service has been activated by the recipients cell phone carrier. This program supports most major carriers, with new carriers being added all the time. For a current list, click here.
Q: Can I also send to normal E-mail addresses?
A: Yes! This program will allow you to include normal e-mail addresses (someone@yahoo.com)
Q: Some of my recipients are getting duplicate messages. Why is that?
A: The most common reason for this is that you are sending the message to two or more carriers that share the same network. This is usually the result of phone companies merging EX: Company "A" merged with Company "B", so sending a message to someone who is a subscriber on Company "A" will also get a message (duplicate) if the message is sent to Company "B" as well. The way to fix this is to carefully look at your list of carriers and eliminate all unnecessary carriers (i.e. Company "B") from your list.
Q: What is the "Disable Bounce Back Filter"?
A: Because of the technique that TextMessagePLUS uses, some cell phone providers are flagging messages coming from TextMessagePLUS and not delivering them. If you feel that this is the case with you, then try checking the "Disable Bounce Back Filter" option. This will cause the messages to be sent out in a fashion that most cell phone providers are content with. The trade off is that any undelivered messages will be bounced back to you, and since this program sends a message to each provider that you have specified, the returned messages can be considerable. This option should be used sparingly.
Q: Is it ok to use the program for mass marketing?
A: Unless the recipients have explicitly given you permission to send them promotional material, then the answer is firmly no. If we receive any reports of spamming we will terminate your account.
Q: How do I select an entire category of names?
A: Just right click and choose Select category (Registers users only)
Q: My current cell phone carrier is not supported. When will you be adding it?
A: We are currently working on more carriers, including international ones. To be sure that the one you are using is included, please let us know which carrier you are requesting. We really do read them and will make every effort to add it on the next version release.
Q: Is there any way to confirm that my message was in fact delivered and read?
A: No. There is no method to confirm a successful delivery or check if the person read the message. For important messages, you should never rely on SMS. This is true of any SMS delivery system.
Q: How long does it take for the recipient to receive the message?
A: Often the message is delivered nearly instantly, but it all depends on your SMTP server, the recipients Cell phone carrier, internet traffic, and a host of other factors, so it might be as long as several hours.
Q: My message never arrives. Why not?
A: This can be caused by several issues so check the following:
Make sure the phone number is correct. Some countries require a prefix before the phone number. Try it both with, and without these prefix numbers, and see if it helps. TextMessagePLUS will try to include the numbers when required, but it is not always correct. For the USA, only use area code, and phone number (leave off any leading "1")
Be sure that the carrier you are sending to is one of your selected carriers.
Do not select more carriers than you need. This can create a lot more traffic than necessary, and you might be flagged by your ISP as a spammer
You might have been flagged as a spammer by your ISP. This has nothing to do with us, so please don't ask if we can help. If you are a spammer, we wouldn't help if we could. To see if you have been flagged, check out this website: http://www.mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx
Q: I think my computer has been mistakenly identified as a spammer computer. What can I do?
A: Check out http://www.mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx to confirm, and perhaps they can help.
